Cwmcerrig News
The Kite Brewery
We’d like to give a very warm welcome to our new neighbours, The Kite Brewery. Led by head brewer Iain Masson, they produce hand crafted quality beers and despite being a young business have already had award success. We are delighted to have them as neighbours and also stock their fantastic beers in the shop. www.thekitebrewery.com

HRH Prince of Wales Visit
In July we were delighted to host His Royal Highness, the Prince of Wales, at Cwmcerrig Farm Shop. We sent an invite to the Prince earlier in the year and were delighted that he accepted our offer of a tour. It truly was a fantastic day; local schoolchildren and members of the community joined us to greet Prince Charles and there was a real buzz around the place.
We gave Prince Charles a tour of the shop, grill and farm and he showed great interest in our business, particularly our own and local products on offer.

Awards
On 16th November we were awarded the Farm Shop of the Year accolade in the Butchers Shop of the Year awards 2011, organised by the Meat Trades Journal. It is a thrill to be recognised in these national awards and whilst it is a great accolade for the shop as a whole, it is also a fantastic acknowledgement for our butchery department.
We’ve also followed up the award success we have had in the previous couple of years since opening, by winning Gold for our Sirloin steak in the Wales True Taste Awards 2011. We followed up last year’s Gold in the category of True Taste Direct Sales Award with Silver this year, plus Bronze in the Sustainable Development category. www.truetaste.tv

We are also delighted to be finalists in the FARMA 2012 awards in two categories; Best Newcomer and Best On Farm Butchers. Results will be announced in January at the Farm and More Event in January so fingers are crossed! www.farma.org.uk
